The Earl Besch Project: Extending a Helping Hand to Our Community

HYGIENE DRIVE

On behalf of The Earl Besch Project, the Lion Foundation, the MSHSA and CHEPTO are sponsoring a boy and girl hygiene drive at The Sound of Music (March 8th, 9th and 10th) and at the K-12 Talent Show (March 18th).  Items requested are toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorant and feminine products. If you would like to participate, there will be a box in The Pollock Center for collection during those events. Please be mindful that donation be something you or your children would wish to use.

Thank you in advance and if you have any questions, please contact Lynette Pertschi at pertschi@verizon.net.

The Earl Besch Project: Extending a Helping Hand to Our Community

Each year, there are students and families in our Camp Hill community who are struggling to make ends meet.  Kids don’t have enough food, don’t have winter coats and cannot afford fees to participate in activities that are available to others. To make a difference, the Camp Hill MSHSA (Middle School High School Association) and CHEPTO (Camp Hill Elementary PTO) have joined forces with The Lion Foundation, the principals and students of Hoover Elementary, Eisenhower Elementary, Camp Hill Middle School and Camp Hill High School, as well as the Backpack Program to form a new initiative called The Earl Besch Project: Extending a Helping Hand to Our Community.

Earl Besch (1926-2015) was a long time resident of the Camp Hill Borough who was known for his generosity to others. Earl would regularly reach out to the schools to see if there were families in need.  He would offer to buy a bike, a winter coat, pay for camp enrollment or maybe purchase them a Christmas present. In 2015, his family established a memorial fund in his name to continue his legacy of caring.  The Earl Besch Fund at The Lion Foundation provides others an opportunity to help those less fortunate in our community through donations to this fund.

The Earl Besch Fund supports a host of needs including food, field trip and camp fees, winter coats & clothing, hygiene supplies, etc. so our students have the tools to be future leaders of tomorrow.  You can support the Earl Besch Project in a number of ways.  To make a monetary donation, go to www.thelionfoundation.org and identify the Earl Besch Needy Student Fund. In addition, contributions can be made throughout the year to many community fundraisers and food / supply drives. If you would like to donate your time, please contact Lynette Pertschi at pertschi@verizon.net.
